This is a large and rare gem-grade Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Pendant from the Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Mine set in fine silver with 14k gold-filled trim. What makes this pendant so unusual is the rich color of the turquoise.  According to the Turquoise Museum in New Mexico, 90% of all natural turquoise is too soft to be made into jewelry without requiring chemical hardening.  Any turquoise that is hard enough to be made into jewelry with no artificial hardening is called ‘gem-grade turquoise’ The Sleeping Beauty mine closed five years ago.
